Rear Brakes

About 2 weeks ago I replaced the rear discs and pads on my car and i've noticed now that only the outer 3/4 of the disc seem to be in contact with the pads. Its the same story for both sides  Sad

Any thoughts as to why?

Hello, I replaced the bearings about 2 weeks ago so shouldn't be that (I hope!) and decided to do the discs and pads whilst i was at it. The pads look as though they're seated as they should be, just worried that it could be something simple which could ruin the new discs and pads as they're not wearing evenly.

Thanks, Matt

If the inners are wearing in the centre it would point to a hub/bearing problem causing the disc to lean, if they are the same then maybe pads not seated properly? unlikely,  but possible

Hi
Have you made sure that the metal nobbly bit on the back of the pads are seated in the rebates of the piston when you replace the caliper over the top of the pads
(THE REBATES YOU INSERT THE BRAKE WIND BACK TOOL INTO TO WIND THE PISTON BACK) As this happened to me and broken new set of pads

Hi Wayne, I did actually wonder what those 'nobbly bits' were for until i realised that the pad wouldn't go flat against the piston because the piston had turned slightly when i wound it back and the nobble wasn't going down the gap.

Thanks,

After leaving it for a few days in true scorpio fashion the back pads now look as though they're making contact with the whole of the disc. I must have a self repairing Scorpio  Smiley
