Hi guys, just found this website in the nick of time I think. My poor old N reg 2.0 Scorpio has decided to start playing up after a couple of years faithfull service. Iwas driving to bath on the weekend, when all of a sudden, the gear box jumped out of gear, all the dashboard needles maxed out and the stereo went to the maximum volume possible. All of this happened while i was sitting on about 90 mph. After a few shudders, it popped back into gear and kept going like nothing had happened. Got to bath, was driving around and then the car started having the same thing happen but obviously at much lower speeds, so the car would just stall. I would pull over and re start the car fine and off i would go. It just seemed to happen at random times. Driving back from bath and it happened once or twice of the motorway. Any of you knowledgable people have any ideas ?

Welcome to the site Sorry to hear of your problems. Sounds to me like some sort of earthing fault. There are a number of important earthing points in the engine bay, 2 near the battery are easy to check, worth a look for sure Failing that someone else will be along shortly

Well, you also need to have the covers in place for both fuse boxes, and also the one which covers the battery. If you don't have these, its just a matter of time before you get problems. That said, you can still get problems (due to water) even if you do have these covers. Had a lot of rain lately. It might be due to that.
