Well, you would - unless it's going out of the exhaust as steam!

Hi Kevin,
I had a similar prob on my last car. It was loosing water slowly but I couldnt find where untill during a long motorway journey I pulled over to top up screan wash and noticed a tiny jet of steam from one of the rubber hoses leading to the heater matrix. The hole was minute and only became aparent during full operating temps.

I recommend that you follow the coolant faultfinding pages here.... My car had a slow coolant leakwhen I bought it in 02, that turned out to be the core plug at the very back of the cylinder head.... not wishing to dismantle the engine to get to it, I used Radweld..... and it's still holding up 4 years later.... mind you the thermostat did stick closed last week  Wink

Not wanting to be alarmist.
Hope that you haven't the dreaded leak between the V which rots the wiring loom insulation.
Well documented on site

As already mentioned, mine too turned out to be the core plug at the rear of the engine. Only to be confirmed by a pressue test.
