Hello all,
 
I will try to explain my problem wiht my poor english...
Saturday, I was on the M20 cruising at around 85mph 5th gear...without changing gear I went down to 70mph. When I wanted to accelerate the car didn't answer my request even with the pedal at its maximum...I had to go down to the 4th gear winning some rpm and then I could drive up to 70mph and higher with the 5th gear.
My car is a 2.0 16V

I don't know if it is related but I need to refill coolant from time to time and I couldn't find the leak...I will check this thanks to the fault finder.

The air-filter is easy to check... just take it out and inspect it. The fuel filter you just replace for a new one (I don't know how to check this).
 
I would also check the sparkplugs and (I don't know the english word for it) the cables from the distributor to the plugs.
 
You don't have any error-codes?
 
About the coolant: When you check the engine oil, how does it look? Does it look like oil (just a bit more black) or does it have strange residues?
 
If you're unlucky (really hope not) the head gasket may have gotten damaged and lets in coolant into the wrong parts of the engine.
Hopefully a hose is slightly loose and lets the coolant out.
 
I once had that problem. I immediately thought that the head-gasket had gone bad, but it was only an old hose that had cracked. There was no dropping under the car because the coolant vapourised on some hot parts in the engine compartment. So check all hoses for leaks first.
 
I don't see how that can have something to do with acceleration, but then the Scorpio has a lot of sensors guiding the ECU (is it still called that?) so I might be wrong.
 
Just thought of a third thing. Check the coolant tank for cracks. Do this when the engine is warm so the crack (if any) has widen a bit.
 
Could be that you or some previous owner have ran the car with to much water in the mixture so the collant has freezed and the tank has cracked. Just a thought.
