This may help http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/radioupgrade.htm

I had to find out which speaker connection was what - it was on the 2007 radio which has an amp in the dash behind the passenger airbag. Your may have to find out if yours still has the amp!

I changed the Ford stereo completely for an aftermarket unit (single-DIN size).  Halfords have some items listed in their conversion charts which can be used to some success but the level of success all depends upon whether the dash panel area for the stereo fitment has been modified before.

When I got my Scorp, the previous owner had fitted a Ford 5000 cassette radio head unit which did not work, mainly because they had bodged the wiring!  The CD changer was still in the boot but this only powered up, we never got any sound from this at all.

I sold the CD changer as I personally do not like boot changers and removed the 5000 series head unit and inspected the wiring.

Because the Scorpio has the built-in amplifier behind the passenger glove box you need to look out for a particular cable harness if yuo are going to use the Ford amp in your system with amplified head units.

The cable harness inserts into the ribbon type cable connetions and drops the amplified signal down to a level that the Ford amp will accept.  This is by far the easiest way of connecting up a self-amplified ISO connection stereo.

The previous links provided are also very helpful if you want to by-pass the amp, but as you can see, this is a job for someone with extreme patience, elastic arms and hands with teflon coated iron knuckles!!

I personally will be changing the wiring so I bypass the amp at some point (once all the other little teething issues are out of the way), as I find I have to really drive my after-market head unit very hard to get adequate volumes (maybe the harness I mentioned earlier attentuates the signal just a little too much or the Ford amp is, as I suspect, crap).

If you need specific pictures etc. just send me a PM and I will help you as best as I can Wink
