Temp guage not registering

I have a 2.3 Ultima Manual Estate and have a problem with the temperature gauge not registering. I have been through the fault finding guides, which are excellent and very helpful, and have discovered that the temp sensor for the gauge is at fault. Now I also have a non running 2.9 12v Ultima Auto Estate and was wondering if this model has the same sensor and if anybody knows where I can locate it as the engine layouts are somewhat different. Any help is as always greatly appreciated.

on the 2.3 it is just below and to the left of the thermostat housing (just done mine),the one for the gauge is nearest the front of the engine, the one nearest the windscreen is for the engine management... let the engine cool, disconnect the multi plug, large deep socket and finally DONT overtighten, you will run the risk of cracking the inlet manifold..... as for the 2.9 being the same, cant comment, but a new one for the 2.3 from ford cost me £10.57..
