Replacing reverse switch on MT75

Anybody done this? I checked it today and it's getting power but remains open circuit when gears in reverse so I assume it's the switch that's bust. Problem is access doesn't look too good as it's quite high up on the LH side of the gearbox casing - is it possible to remove with the gearbox in situ? Is there anything I need to be aware of? (such as oil escaping all over me and the driveway!) Of course it'd be much easier with a lamp so I can see it better, and if needed I could put a trolley jack under the gearbox mounting and lower it by an inch or two... Darren
