Hi Everyone, many thanks for all the advice given over the last few days, can you take just one cylinder head off on the diesel. Please i need an answer fast as i am going to start the work today

You can take one cylinder head off, BUT... not untightening the heads in the right sequence and just removing one head could cause the other head gasket next to it to distort because there will be pressure from the securing bolt (between the 2 heads) on one side and not the other (where it has been undone). Like I said, I've not worked on this engine but theoretically it should be possible. However I believe the new head gasket is now a one piece job rather than a separate gasket for each head. Also, if the manifolds use studs rather than bolts then you'll still have to remove both inlet and exhaust first to be able to remove the head(s)... Darren
