Dashboard problem

Hi Guys, For some reason my indicaters stopped working (After 5 minutes they started to work again), then the next time I got back into the car, I had no lights on the dashboard (again after a 2 mins the lights came back on).

Since then I have not seen that problem, but any ideas on what may have caused this?

Thanks

P.S. Any ideas on a suitable Alarm/immobiliser for my cosse (I know it already has a factory fitted System)

Hi there,

sounds like either a dirty/loose fuse or the old damp in the fuse boxes. Check the fuse boxes even if the covers are fitted, don't know about you but its been very damp round here recently.

Also check any connections to the actual instrument panel.

Just had a quick look at the fault finding and it suggests checking the connections to the back of the headlights for a similar problem.

If these don't help then check the back of the headlight switch for problems.

Re the alarm I would tread very carefully. Mine had an aftermarket alarm on it when we got it that caused nothing but trouble. Someone may well have a suitable suggestion though!

Cheers

I agree with other comments.

On the immobiliser / aftermarket alarm front, the PATS standard fit immobiliser system used on the Scorpio was looked upon as pretty sophisticated and secure. If you wanted to add another its not simply a question of switching PATS off (for obvious reasons) or for breaking a connection, cos it is networked throughout the car and reads a number of components.

Have a look at http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/pats.htm

Now some people have had accessory fit alarms added and if anybody does have a recommendation, they will probably let you know.

However there have been far more cries for help from people who have problems with an aftermarket fit than any themes around the standard fit package.  I do know some people who have gone for a beefier horn or siren.

Main shortcoming for some people about the Scorpio system is that the alarm is mainly a perimeter based but you can add volumetric sensors and a number of vehicles came with that option already.

It may help you if you post this query as a seperate item.

Good Luck

Geoff
