moaning sound

When I turn hard right and pull off slowly (ooh-err) I get a deep moaning sound (oooh- errr). This doesn't happen when I pull off fast (ooooh-err), just at slow pull off (oooohhhh-eeerrrrr). Seriously though, this is bugging me. It seems to come from the front and only when turning right. I thought of the power steering pump, but surely the same noise would be heard when turning left as well. It definitely isn't the brakes (new discs & pads 1000 miles ago). Any ideas?

Hi i got exactly the same thing. The sound comes when taking a hard right turn at slow speed, it sonds like metal rubbing metal...with a small vibration. I thought also it was the steering rack, but after 1 mile the sound dissapears. I got new steering bushes, seering rods, new brake disks and pads...but the sound it is still there. The thing i found out that the sound appers after the car sits for a few days. If i drive it at least once at 2 days, that sound wouldn't come up. Now that the wheater outside is warmer the sound wouldn't apper although my car is sitting from about a week.....

Hmm... I get a moaning sound when accerlerating hard. It comes from the passenger seat! No, seriously, I don't know what the problem is I'm afraid, but it does sound like a steering problem, rack or pump.

The wheel isn't touching anything. I have had some cooling system problems recently, so it is possible that water has got onto the power steering pump when opening the thermostat housing. I will try a bit of 3in1 spray on it & see if it dissappears.
