Annelk. They are under the 'cover plate' on top of the engine and it is held in place by 10 small bolts. The plugs are quite deep down. This photo should help http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/top%203.jpg. The two black 'boxes' which sit on top of two of the pugs are the coil packs. They are simply held by two bolts.

That would appear to be the case as most of these are platinum tipped these days. The details are on this page if you do decide to change them. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/diy.htm.

Beware, the wiring under this cover gets very hot and subsequently the loom wire plastic insulation will be very brittle so treat it carefully or else a heap of electric based trouble will bite your bottom .

Hmmm, perhaps it might be better to forget them until they show a definate problem..... what is the consensus here, when/if to fit new plugs?

Don't be put off , it's an easy process, you'll need a 8 inch long extension ( Oooh! don't we all dearie ) for your spark plug socket. After four years they might benefit from a bit of an examination/ clean.
