Why can't I open the boot on my 2.3 saloon while the engine is running? Obviously it is some kind of safety feature, but it is annoying!!! Anyone know how to get around this problem?

I think there is a cut of relay in one of the fuse boxes, the earlier models like mine do not have this feature. This topic has been discussed at length in the past and not final conclusion was drawn from it . It really was POTUCK if you had the feature of not. See the owner handbook of the wiring diagrams

The view seems to be that it was designed that way in order to prevent the boot being opened whilst the car was stationary in traffic. As a member posted once I recall,'Round here the Chavs would have the CD unit out in that time'!!. . It has also been suggested that a mod was done to 'remove' the feature for Taxis but in view of Snoopys' comment may be it was just a later mod.
