Well i put another sensor in yesterday and it has cleared the running too lean code, but still idles like a bucket of horse poo and no more fault codes (wierd)

Anyways i thought i'd check to see if ihad any air leaks from busted rubber/metal pipework and lo and behold it seems that the EGR valve gasket (although new) is leaking and there is also a little breather pipe just below the exhaust manifold that attaches to the block that appears to be a problem. So 2 more things to rectify and hopefully cure my problems

Hey ho, at least it passed the MOT yesterday  Grin

Paul... I've got an occasional "idling like a bucket of horse poo" problem too.
I'm pretty certain thats something to do with an EGR tube. Noticed it was a bit too much of an easy fit when I put the engine back together.
Must get that done sometime.  Roll Eyes

BTW... where do you get your MOT done? Do they do them at work for you?

Hi Paul,

Sounds like you have a similar problem then, the proper FMD gaskets for EGR are only about £1.21 i think. But the little breatherpipe under the exhaust manifold is going to prove a little difficult i think, especially with my cumberland fingers.

Work do do MOT's although they don't do them themselves, they use the Ashford MOT Centre at Cobbs Wood. I personally use Riverside Garage at Henwood and have done for the last 2 years as they are pretty good there. This time the bloke let me off with a split steering gaitor as long as i got it done and showed him, which i thought was nice of him as it saved me another £40 retest fee.

Just hope i can get this idling sorted now

Oh yeah, I've used the guy over Cobbs Wood before. Phil Coast is his name. Gave him a quote for new windows a couple of years ago but he never had them done  Sad

Have heard a few people recommend Riverside before, so I might go there.

In the past I've taken it to Beaver Commercials. Thats mainly cos I've had the van tested there and just got to know theire style of testing.  Wink
