Rear o/s door latch

Hiya folks, I'm new to this site and like what your all doing very much!
I was wondering if anybody could help with diagnosing the problem with my rear o/s door. It's started not closing correctly, I've looked at the latch and it doesn't seem to give any resistance like the others do. I've been in touch with a breaker who is wanting to sell me a whole motor assembly unit for £34. On the other hand a mate of mine has said that it's just a spring come off and simply needs the door interior stripping off and the spring putting back on. Don't really want to strip everything off only to find that i need this motor assembly unit thingy and have to order and wait for it. I'd rather know in advance and get the part before i strip it down. The door aligns perfectly and will shut properly if you really slam the hell out of it but it really needs fixing.
