first thing to check on all auto boxes is the oil level,do this in the correct manner (after a run, shift through all gears twice, leave engine running),also, what kind of condition is the oil in colour wise?

oil is still red,the box shifts smooth until this happens, forgot to mention when it happens the o/d light comes on ? and yes the fluid level seems fine. ive been looking around the net and i beleive the MAF could course this. is this correct?

Water or dampness in the fuseboxes will cause a multitude of problems !!.

Could be the transmission range switch (that tells it what gear you've put the stick in!) - might be thinking you've shifted into neutral though not likely.  I think the O/D light is also used to indicate a fault so it would be worth getting an OBD scan done to show up any codes generated by the ECU.  Adowds on this forum is also having problems with their auto box, including O/D light coming on - might be worth reading that thread and seeing if any of it applies in your case.

right cured my irregular dash lights, so back to the gearbox...not had chance to get an obd done. don't suppose any one in stoke HuhHuh?
here's what it does...from cold, starts drives smooth in drive no problems,as soon as the engine warms up, it drops out of 3rd or 4th and od light comes on. stop the card and it will turn the od light off itself and you have drive back untill it gets to 3rd or 4th then jumps out again , but boot it and you still have drive but i suspect only 1st.stop again it comes back... let the engine cool down and you have all the gears as smooth as ever untill the engine warms up.....now at any time you can put it in 2nd and it will drive all day long.....engine is smooth all the time and the gearbox is smooth, no banging or crashing.....is there a temp sensor that controls the box? if so where is itHuh?any one any ideas??
