Central Control Module connections

Hey guys,

I'm trying to sort my no-chime, no remote code problem and am looking at the Central Control Module (black thing behind the glovebox. Is there an unused connector on these?

On mine, there are three multipin sockets on the module, but only the middle and right hand (driver's side) one have sockets plugged into them. i.e. the left hand (passenger) socket is empty.

Is this right?

Any ideas how to check the thing? It -looks- okay...

Mine is a low-series diesel and the same but doesn't seem to suffer for it!  Wonder if it's for the break-glass sensors on the estate, or heated front screen which mine doesn't have?

I believe you test it by holding in the button for the heated rear window whilst turning on the ignition (might need to keep button held in for several seconds).  It will chime twice then sound for as long as each input is operated (e.g. the HRW switch).  I tested mine yesterday and found that opening any of the doors or boot lid causes it to sound, as does pressing the HRW switch and setting wipers to intermittent.  The bonnet switch does not have any effect (but does work - I tested it today!).  If you have a heated front screen then I assume the switch for that will also cause it to chime.

Basically it's a glorified timer for pretty much everything in the car that uses one...

Hey up!

Mine does have the heated front screen but is a saloon. I don't get any chimes, ever! No matter what I do! The tes sequence doesn't work either, tried that too.

Oh well, keep trying!

Possibly the HRW switch is faulty?  Huh

I don't know - it hasn't been misted since I bought the car a few weeks back. It does light up and seem to be active.

I think this is part of my rash of systemic electrical faults with the car, from the clockspring connection, to the HO2 sensor fuses, the interior lights, no chimes, no remote fob coding, as well as the gearbox worries.

I'm slowly checking through everything I can, and trying to repair as I go along. Have got a replacement CTM in the post from Mummra, and will try changing the CCM too if that don't work...
