The tailgate on my 97 Ultima squeaks from the nearside and it has got noticeably worse lately.
Have tried the additional tape around the catch trick without success.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried WD40 on the top hinges and on the struts?.

Ford sell an isolator kit part no 1040316, cost just over a £1.00 which solves the problem.

Thanks for those - yes tried the WD40 route without success.
What is the isolator, what does it do and where does it fit (keep it clean!!!!)
