Hi, can anyone help, being new to the fourm I have a
cosworth 24v on a M plate 1995, the problems that i am
having are as follows, first the speedometer started going crazy, the overdrive light started flashing on and off, the the rev racing and the gears changing up and down,  this has only happened the once, the car has just been put back on the road after being parked on the drive for the last six months, apart from that she runs well.

had exact same problem with my 95 Cossie. Changed the VSS and perfect now.  VSS cost me £25  and half hour to change.  Wost part of job is removing heat shields to get at it.

Whenever this happens on any Scorpio I always change the VSS first and its never yet failed.  I normally pay around 50 quid at FMD

IIRC someone paid in the region of £54 quite recently for a VSS from a Ford dealer for a 1995 24v.

After 6 months laid up did you put fresh petrol in the tank? The old stuff will have aged and a fussy Cossie engine won't like it much  Wink.
