In Need Of Help

Hi, can anyone help, being new to the fourm I have a cosworth 24v on a M plate 1995, the problems that i am having are as follows, first the speedometer started going crazy, the overdrive light started flashing on and off, the the rev racing and the gears changing up and down, this has only happened the once, the car has just been put back on the road after being parked on the drive for the last six months, apart from that she runs well. can anyone help, looking forward to any suggestions thank you for your help. if its been stood it could also be damp in the electrcal connectors. vss is a good place to start as highlander says

had exact same problem with my 95 Cossie. Changed the VSS and perfect now. VSS cost me £25 and half hour to change. Wost part of job is removing heat shields to get at it.

Whenever this happens on any Scorpio I always change the VSS first and its never yet failed. I normally pay around 50 quid at FMD

IIRC someone paid in the region of £54 quite recently for a VSS from a Ford dealer for a 1995 24v.

After 6 months laid up did you put fresh petrol in the tank? The old stuff will have aged and a fussy Cossie engine won't like it much . Cheers, Neil W.

Thank you for all the info, after looking through some of the other posts I think it could be the battery, and just to make sure things are not going right when I stop the car and put it in park or nutral it stalls, its fine in drive any idears ?. Thank you. Scorpion59.

thank you all for the help and advice, someone suggested getting the battery checked, I fonud out it was the wrong one and under powered for the job, battery now changde and it feels like I have a new car, all the past troubles seem to be gone. Thanks again to you all. Scorpion59.
