Battery problem?

I have been having the dials-flicking-around-the-clock issue for a couple of weeks now. I used the car to come to Guildford, from Staffs, on Monday morning. Come Tuesday evening, there wasn't even enough in the battery to unlock the doors!!! The battery is showing 7.5V on my meter. Time for a new one perhaps? My main question is what size is it supposed to be? I think the previous owner of this has put in a battery that is too small.

This is the problem with modern batteries, they fail so suddenly with little or no warning. I got a Varta one from my local motor factor just recently, had to order it in but had it that afternoon, correct size should be listed in the book they have. Mine was about £66 (for a 24v).

I have seen that same Varta battery for £66, was going to get that until I went with the high-power GM battery,...90AH! I can get these for members if they wish for a discounted rate but they would have to be collected from me at post code MK46 5BJ. No delivery I'm afraid. Note: As per the Scorpio 'How To' web site all V6 motor's should be fitted with a 100amp alternator, which I am assured is plenty to keep the 90Ah battery fully charged.

Cool. It does sound dead to me. I think the previous owner penny-pinched when he replaced the battery. 400A battery. It rattles about in all that space. I have been given a quote for £35+vat for a battery (he didn't say what size). He did say that it was the correct rating for the Scop. I'll let you know if it is any good. I am getting it at lunch time today.

Had similar problems with my 2.9 Cologne. Problem traced to faulty Alternator, guy said he has replaced a few over the years, something to do with the earthing within the unit! All I know is that the car has been working fine since.

A 510 amp cadnium battery (calsium) has been excellent on my 2.3 for about 4 months now. It's on a taxi with the roof light on when engine is off & always starts first time. Life expectation?....not sure....it's in a taxi.....I'll let you know.

Excellent. I go the battery. 600amp. Bargain at £35+vat. All is well again after a week of use.
