I have just bought a P reg 2L 16V Ultima. Apart from a leak from the auto gearbox cooling pipe I also have this idle problem. The engine fires up perfect but if you take your foot off the gas the revs die and she stalls. Can anybody help me. ps. I have cleaned the MAF.!! Cheers dxt

Airleak? (Try listening for a hissing sound in the engine bay) Tried checking the IACV?

Welcome to the site Check the spark plugs and leads, make sure they are all clean and tight and the plugs are gapped correctly. Then have a look at the coil packs, there are 2 of them, casing should be free of cracks.

Try turning the aircon off, a worn/sticking compressor bearing will stall the engine. Try it with the MAF disconnected and see if there is any difference, it might be goosed

If it's acting like an old car starting from cold without choke then it could be the coolant temp. sensor. Darren
