problem not solved by cleaning idle valve...i think problem is because fuel is not pressurised,,,there is no hiss from the filler cap when undone...it is a tight fit...any ideas where to start on this problem

Try looking at this diagram. I think in the past there have been problems with the tank sender unit not sealing but any loose or dodgy connection could cause a leak.http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/evapmonitor.htm.

When i open the fuel tank it doesn't hiss .....but it works good. I had a verry obscure problem with the IACV, i thought was clean, but it wasan't working.....about fourth time of cleaning and oiling it did the magic
