Looks like I got it wrong with my suggestion of swapping the link over in position B9 of the aux. fusebox.  I just did that on mine and the compressor doesn't run (but my aircon works fine).
 
So...  if you've repositioned the link between terminals 0 and 2 it'll make no difference.  What you actually have to do is link terminals 1 & 2.
 
Okay, I admit it; I'm a muppet.  Embarassed

Problem is, my memory ain't so hot and I may well take a fusebox apart and figure it all out, including testing it in the car;  but when I come to write about it I can't remember what it was I did - not the fine detail anyhow!
 
I worked out B9 by taking the fusebox layers apart and following where the tracks went.  Unfortunately since rebuilding it I've got terminals 0 and 1 mixed up by the look of things.  IIRC, terminal 2 is a permanent live, 0 is the output from R24 and 1 is the feed to the compressor clutch..?
