had an autobox specialist put a code read on my 95 2.0L he says the the 3rd shift solenoid is gone and it reads that there is a crack in a seal..... he says £450 to repair.... if these are true how come every day for the first 10 minutes of driving the box is perfect then while in drive the o/d light comes on and you loose drive?? stop the car, do nothing and the car then pulls off perfect again untill you pick up speed then o/d light again .... why would it be perfect untill its run for 5 to 10 minutesHuhHuhcould this be a loom problem and this is giving bad codesHuh?

right, i don't beleive its the box... this is a wiring problem somewhere..... when the box looses drive, if you stop the car turn off the ignition then straight back on, the car will drive in drive for another few minutes perfect then jumps out, o/d light comes on.. stop car, turn ignition off and on again and the drive comes back again so it cant be a temperature problem... has anyone got any ideasHuh? what resets for a period of time when the ignition is resetHuh?? anybodyHuhHuh

 Well ,   don't pay £450,    I think you've   figured  that  one  out !

Sounds very electrical  to  me  too.

Our Auto  Tech Boffins  will be along  soon to  advise  you  on  relays  and  stuff.

thanks for the replies lads......ive been going all round the loom today seeing if there is any problems... cant find anything.....ive cleaned the MAF etc... the problem is corrected too easy with just the ignition on and off, i may be wrong but i don't beleive it to be an actual gearbox problem...like you say i think its definately electrical......but whatHuh?i thought the systems did a check relitavely quickly... after an ignition reset it will run fine any where from 5 to 10 min minutes, thats why now i don't beleive its the loom..ive only just had the car... my mate picked it up in leeds ,drove it all the way back to stoke, drove around in it for 2 days no problems at all, i'm getting really stump now... any ideas for me to check would be most welcome.....

just an update on this gearbox problem....ruled out temp sensors due to the fact the box seems to reset itself if i turn the ignition key off and straight back on....and yes i've done it while still moving.......just done some tests on a very long road...holding the speed at 50 or so the box is perfect, then loose the drive, key off and straight back on , drive returns for about 3 to 4 miles then loose the drive. key off and on, drive comes back just done this for an hour.... at a constant speed. it always looses drive between 3 to 4 miles(or kilometers which ever it is)does any one beleive this is still an internal gearbox problemHuh?has anyone got any ideasHuh?? other than a gallon of petrol and a matchHuh
