Poor running when cold - 24V

I have a 1995 N reg 24V scorpio estate. When pulling away after starting from cold, the engine is very reluctant to pick up - if you use any amount of acceleration, it stutters and doesn't really respond. After about 200/400 yards, it sorts itself out and the engine runs fine. I could almost live with it, but when trying to pull out onto a busy roundabout at the end of the road, it can be a bit embarrassing! Any ideas?

Check plugs and leads first of all. Make sure the plugs are at the correct torque, the gap is right and electrodes clean. Make sure the leads are in good condition and attach tightly to the plugs and DIS (coil pack). See ho you get on
