Hi Chaps,

Does a cracked headlamp glass cause an MOT failure as long as the lights still function etc?

Cheers,
SteveS.

Thanks Scorpio-Man,

The web site says....

Lights - condition, operation, security and correct colour. The headlamps will also be checked to see if the aim is correct

Which is quite ambiguous as to "condition".... If the crack isn't dangerous, it doesn't leak and it works perfectley then you could say "the condition is good".... at least that is what I am hoping for.

Cheers,
SteveS.

My old MK1 Granny has had a crack in the headlamp since I've had it (9 years) & it's never failed on that.
Plus...my Scorp passed it's last MOT with a smashed (& I mean... smashed!) front fog lamp.
Good luck Wink

A front fog lamp is not obligatory that is why it was passed.

Chaps,

She failed the MOT mainly on emissions but the Headlight wasn't mentioned even in a warning.

You could be right about the "good run"..... but the problem with that is a good long run with a bit of right foot down on a car with no MOT or TAX.... Bit of a risk but might just be needed...

if you can get your hands on a set of trade plates you could take it on a run failing that book it in a test centre further away because as long as it is booked in you are safe from the law
