help scorpio ultima 2.0 non starter

hi i have just brought a 1996 n reg 2.0 ultima non starter guy change car battery and car wouldn,t start but wiring to coils under bonnett looks like insulation has fallen off gone to start with coils and pull fault codes via diagonstics socket iam collecting car friday only paid £75 aa fault it was cam sensor on top off engine any ideas thanks in advance stewart

Definitely check the wiring if in any doubt about it's condition. OBDII scan is also worth doing but bear in mind sensors it reports bad may be okay but loom fault. Incidentally a faulty cam sensor shouldn't stop it from starting, so, check if the red LED on top of the dash goes out - could be an immobiliser fault... Darren
