hi, i have just replaced the gearbox in my 24v ultima which has been standing for well over a year and wilst i was road testing it the air was coming through nice and cold, but i noticed some flap noises so done the aircon reset and noticed a code 58 in the left hand temp display. can anyone tell me what this means? i am sure i have seen it on the site before but i cant remember where it was. thanks for any help with this.

The codes are here. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ccreset.htm. Sometimes 5 appears instead of 0 so if that is the case it would seem to be low battery voltage, which would fit if the car has been unused for a long time. Do the dials 'flick round' a classic sign of low/duff battery.

hi there

that's the code for a battery issue. did you need to charge/change the battery after standing for so long?

is so, nothing to worry about. maybe do the reset a couple of time to make sure the code has gone.

the battery was totally dead and i had to use a booster pack to start the car, even after twenty minutes of runnung i tried to restart the car but the bat was still dead. the dials and lights were a bit erratic so i will try to recharge/ replace the battery and try another reset. there are a couple of things needed to do for the mot so i have time. thanks fot the replies.
