Drivers door window switches
« on: Jun 25th, 2006, 7:56pm »

Been using the car all weekend without any problems but today went to put my drivers window down and got nothing.  I am not able to operate any of the windows from my control panel but they still work from their own switches (except drivers side of course), neither does the electric door mirror joystick switch work.

I also note that the memory seat moduke is dead too.

Anyone had this proble before?  Was it broekn wire in the harness or something else?

Could check the connection on the plug/socket of the door loom where the door opens and closes, but is probably a fuse as has been said

Checked all fuses and it's not that, fuses were all intact.

Also removed harness plug in door shut and re-attached a few times.  It clicks into place OK.

Still no change, no power to drivers door.

Anyone got any photo's of where the harness run goes to from the door shut behind the dash?

...the other thing I forgot to mention was that a few times over the weekend the car alarm went off as soon as I locked the drivers door.

I could find no reason why this was happening and the only thing I seemed to work out to stop it was unlock the car, start the engine then switch off and re-lock.

Would this be anything to do with the aux relay contained in the drivers door?  The handbook states this is relay 30 and controls the 'trip' switch.

had a similar prob with our window it got stuck halfway down , but when it happened none of the switches would move the windows on the drivers side , but passenger side was working fine , ours was nothing to do with the fuses either , took the pannel of the door  and just made sure every thing was in place and then just wiggled the wires about  and it worked again! but i still cant say what it was that made it come back to life sorry .

I have removed the door card and removed the black control module.  This is a sealed unit (looks sealed with black resin), so no chance of getting inside it seems.

Have checked all electrical connections and still no difference to the door controls.  Without a proper schematic either I am stabbing in the dark as to where I should be getting 12v readings.  I did probe with my metre and found I could get 12v readings at various points so it seems power is getting to the door, so it has to be something to do with something inside the door.

What is the black module that sits in the upper left corner with two wiring harnesses attached?

If you go to this page and scroll down to 'modules and motors' that may help. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/intbasicelec.htm.

Yes seen that but what does the multiplex door module do?  If this is faulty would this affect only the drivers door controls for windows and mirrors and seat memory?

Got a multiplex unit to try in the door this morning and everything now works fine.  Broke the seal on the old unit and was immediately greated by a lovely burning smell!

Several components are clearly blown, wonder what caused that?!
