HELP!! My beloved scorpio 2.9 12v Ultima (N reg) has been off the road since December! It stalled in rush hour traffic and has gone from bad to worse since then. I've had the ECU checked and it's okay, a new MAF sensor fitted, a second hand engine wiring loom fitted. My mechanic is running out of ideas. Intermittent problems include racing idle, no speedo, erractic running, lack of top gear, lack of kick down. New kick down module has been fitted. One time the emissions were so bad it set fire to a rose bush in the garden!! Did have constant battery drain but that seems to be okay since new wiring loom fitted. Any suggestions gratefully received??!!

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) for the speedo/idle problem. sounds like fusebox/electrical maybe. You dont have a MAF on your 12v

OK I think the problems are down to the vacum pipe under the ICV being disconected..... Had similar syptoms years ago on mine took me ages to find it It is EASILY missed it pushes onto a clear plastic pipe under the ICV ...But the lack of speed is most likely wiring or a U/S VSS module .. And can confirm the 12v does NOT have a MAF it does have a MAP sensor th

A frequent cause of battery drain is a 'duff' alternator. Your man should be able to check this and by connecting a meter to the battery if it shows current being consumed with everything switched off pulling fuses to locate the problem circuit.
