I have several times read here that the Scorpio Diesel is sensitive to overheating problems. Now I wonder how it is possible that I never heard that the extra fans started. Its now very hot here (South of France) How to test if they are working or not. I have two Scorpios TDIs. One with Climat Control, the other without. They are both made 1995. Thanks for any hint.

Hi Pustagris: Have a look at the fan wiring setup and general description. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/coolfans.htm I have relatives who have a property near Valbonne, and from staying with them, I know how extremely hot it can get down there. If your fans aren't coping with the heat, but all working OK, perhaps a local auto-electrician could fit you an override switch so that you could manually switch the fans on when the temperatures reach 40o, as I know they do at this time of year. Hope this helps you. Bon Chance!

You can test the fans and relay by shorting out two of the pins in the radiator switch (there's four, two grounds and two switched inputs for the relay). One pair will give slow speed, the other will give high speed. If there's a wiring problem then you'll probably only get one fan running on high and neither on low. Of course, this doesn't test the radiator switch itself! Darren

"The twin elecrically driven fans are operated by a termal switch in the radiator end tank." Where to look for this termal switch? I do not understand the words: "radiator end tank" (The wording is taken out from ://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cooling.htm Since I think that these fans are very important to avoid overheating of the engine. I would very much appreciate any help. The strange thing is. I have two cars (Scorpio 2.5 TDI) and the should have both this curious fault. I have never mixted with this part of the cars. I have checked the fuses. They are ok.

hi-looking at description, you should find the thermal switch about half way down the end tank, which is one of the tanks (one each side ) the top radiator hose connects to on radiator.

What is an end tank? Where are they? I suppose you mean tanks which have to do with the cooling system. Thank for your reply pustagris
