I have a black scorpio which looks really straight from the outside and I love driving it. Everything is immaculate apart from one problem it's developed recently. It bangs into reverse and won't change beyond 2nd gear. I have cleaned the MAF, to no avail and a backstreet garage has suggested it could be a gearbox fault and want to charge me a fortune!! It's only done 79,000 miles, what should I do?? Has anyone any advice, or would anyone be interested in a acquiring my car?? I'm in BB10 postcode

Your car has an OBD-II compliant engine-management system so the first thing to do is check for any fault codes using an OBD-II reader - several of us here have them (some have more fancy computerised systems which can do the same job). Might be worth seeing if there's anybody close by who could check for you or lend you their tool. Darren
