hi all,

since getting my Scorpio ive only ever started the engine from cold

but today i had to move the car not long after turning it off

the car was very resilient to start and when it finally fired up it was a bit lumpy for about 5-10 seconds then settled down and behaved normally.

ive checked the fault finder page but can find anything that matches exactly, only thing i could find is if the engine wont start at all

could this be the a sign that the fuel pressure regulator is on it's way out or could there be anything else

p.s if the car is left for 10 mins or so after being taken for a drive it starts ok, it's only when the car is restarted a minute or so after turning it off  Lips Sealed

I had this problem on another vehicle. The fuel injector relay would stick when hot, and prevent the engine from starting. As soon as it cooled it would be OK again. It was a real puzzle for a while. We'd park the car, and then it just went on strike. Had to wait 20 mins or so before we could start it again.

Next time it does it, tap Relay R17 sharply, which is your fuel injector pump relay. This generally frees the contacts. If this is the problem, you'll be able to start the car again immediately.

They can sometimes stick and cause this problem. Replace it if faulty, as if they stick when you're driving you can get sudden and immediate fuel starvation which can be interesting with 40 tons of truck coming up fast behind you!  Cool   Shocked  Cool
