Boot open indicator & spurious alarm activation

Hi Guys & Gals, Last week we noticed that Geraldine's boot open light would intermittently show up whilst driving. We also noticed that when trying to dead-lock the car the alarm LED would come on during arming & then would not flash. A few false alarm activations then followed & we noticed that pressing down on the boot lid triggered the alarm. Further tests showed that the boot open light would not extinguish at all if the boot catch was closed with the boot lid open. Looking a bit further revealed a fractured cable (from switch on boot catch mechanism) where the loom exits the plastic shroud on the R/H boot hinge, which just happened to reconnect occasionally when the lid was closed! It looks like there may be a need to exit the cable slightly further down the shroud to try to avoid the loom folding at such a sharp angle when the lid is shut - but that's another day at the moment, still in mid engine/box loom rebuild at the moment! We'll keep the progress posted! Ania & Paul

i had the same problem, mine turned out to be a loose connection (connector). remove the lining of the inside of the bootlid, feel inside the boot, you will find two connectors (cant remember which one it was), get someone to sit in the car telling you when the boot open indicator is on/off, while you find the loose connector. hth Russ
