Urgent Help Needed - PAS Leaking.

This morning I have had the misfortune to leak my PAS fluid. The gaiter on the OS of the steering rack has a slight split and is pouring out power steering fluid.
Is this just a case of replacing the gaiter or is it worse ?
Off on holiday next Friday, so really need this sorted

A local factor has said there are two types - with or without speed sensor. Anyone know how I tell which one I need. 1995 2.0 Auto Ultima Estate.

As far as i know it was only the 24v's which had the speed sensitive steering, unless someone has replace a non-sensitive rack with a sensitive one.
As a temporary 'bodge' to keep you going could you not fashion somehting up using say an old bicycle rubber innertube and some zip ties?

The steering rack repair was as far as I am aware NOT to be recommended.
When Eric did his it failed shortly after being refurbed. He then bought a new one.
The 24v is the only one with the speed sensitive steering and MOST local motor factors do recon units for ones without the speed sensitive gizzmo.
Even if you fit the one without the speed bit it wil still work with any model. you just loose that functinallity.( its only an electrical connection )

Got one from local factors - £160+ VAT.
My star technician has removed the old rack in 40 mins - just waiting for the new one to arrive.
