My lovely car failed MOT for CO emission...I then ask the garage to repart it but they told me that compresssion is too low in 2 cylinders (140)...Is it really the cause of the emission problem ? They don't want to repair it and my MOT expire next week !

A garage turning down work ? What's the world coming to More likely the garage is unsure as to the reason for the high emissions ( there could be dozens of reasons ) and their diagnosis could well be wrong. What are the fail emission figures ?

If they're right about the low compression then it's probably a failed head gasket if the two cylinders are next to each other. Could cause bad emissions but so can lots of other things so it might be worth getting another compression check done to confirm... Darren

They told me it is the head gasket...I don't really know what to do, I don't want to pay to much for a car I bought less than 1000.

Well assuming it doesn't need anything else you could be looking at £250+ to have the gasket done. Or you could do it yourself if time isn't an issue and you already have a good socket set and torque wrench... Darren
