Idling problems

Hi I have a problem with a Scorpio -95 , 2.0 i. When driving the car runs ok, but the idling is not.It is very unsteady and runs a bit up and down. It does not misfire. I ve replaced thr ign wires, and also the maf because earlier the car did not run well when driving either. It sounds like a air leak problem but i ve used starting gas with no result. Wouldnt a leak in the Egr be noticed by Pcm?? The only fault code there was, was on the mAF. Could it be a iac valve problem ?. The datalog indicates that the ho2s is lean on idle, but regulates ok when driving. Lft is about +3%, and Shtft is about 8%, The exhaust manifold is changed earlier because of cracks. Is it common that the cam timing gets wrong on these ones??Sometimes the idling is ok, so therefore I think that is not likely /Wondering if someone have experienced anyting like this ?? Best regards Abbe

The IACV could well be a factor. It is a simple job to remove it and clean the shaft with carb cleaner and then lubricate with 3in 1 oil. You need to be sure the shaft is moving freely and a small screwdriver or snipe nosed pliers will help. Be sure to replace the gasket as any air leak will affect the idle. See a similar thread started by myself. Here http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Problems;action= display;num=1153398813.
