Brake lights staying on !

Hi All,

The rear brake lights of my 95 2.0Lt 16v estate are staying on after the the brake pedal is released.
I guess this may be a fault in the switch. Does anyone know where it is located or any other reason for this problem.

Thanks , Chris.

hi-try here http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/electrical/intbasic/SwitchBrakeLight .pdf  .as you say faulty switch or it might not be locked into the pedal.if you have cruise control it will be the bottom switch, only shows 1 switch in the link page.hth

Meg.

Thanks for the advice.
Once I had taken out the lower console access to the switches was tight but possible.
Took out the lower, brake light , switch and it checked out o.k.
On refitting I noticed that the bracket which holds these and the footwell light was slightly loose. This was just enough to stop the switch plunger from making contact with the brake pedal !
All now corrected and working properly.

Thanks again,  Chris.

p.s. Baz , we had rain , thunder and lightning in Essex at various times over the past 2 days.
