Minor stalling problem/windscreen wipers

Hi all
Wonder if you can help me out with this one. My Scorp (98 Cosser Auto) has taken to occasionally stalling from cold idle. It usually happens just after the car is started up and when the gear selector is moved out of park.
It only happens when the car is starting from cold and when the car is re-started it (usually) doesn't happen again.
I'm therefore treating this as a somewhat minor problem, but is there anything I need to do about it to stop it turning into a major one?
My other tiny problem is on the windscreen wipers. Occasionally (one time in 5) if the front windscreen wipers are turned on, the back wiper will operate in sync with them (regardless of the position of the back wiper switch). If the back wipers are switched on and off again this stops the problem. Any ideas?
