Pats Problem - I think

I have had my 2.3 Ultima for 5 years and managed to find answers to all my probs on this brill site except this one.
Long story sorry.
Scorp was running fine batt on it's last legs. Had to start using a jump batt ( as I have done in the past). Took scorp to get new batt fitted. No probs.
Next day went out parked scorp for about 30 mins.
When I tried to start the Pats led was doing various disco effects.
Had a tow back home. Next day went to have a look and she started but the Pats light stayed on for 1 min then was flashing 2:2. Took a chance and drove round for about 20 mins. Switched off and then re started.
Pats worked as it should 3secs then off. Great I thought.
 
Worked fine for 4 days then went to start car, it would not turn over and pats fast flash. Switched off and on again Pats code 1:6 would not turn over. Switched off and on again car started, Pats on for 1 min then 1:6.
Drove home switched off and on again, started ok and Pats stayed on. Switched off and Pats still stayed on permanently. This is still the current situation, Pats led on all the time engine running or not.
I am worried about going too far incase she won't start again.
Any ideas would be very welcome.
Sorry about the novel but thought full history would be helpful.

Have you read this? http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/pats.htm. 1;6 is a faulty link between the Pats and the EECV. Could it be that the battery problems or the removal and re-fitting have disturbed  a cable or connector somewhere.

I have had a look and a fiddle with the eecv connections and the loom comming from the pats sender/receiver but they look ok. I intend to get them out and have a proper look tomorrow.

Do you have another key to try?.......it might be that some thing got spiked as you seem to be getting a varying problem...........you could do a reprograme if you have the red key, BUT this may be risky !!!

Udate.... today I removed the CCU and checked the PCB. There was a small patch across a couple of tracks that looked like corrosion but in reality I think it was flux residue. I cleaned it off anyway. Reassembled ... reconnected the battery..... fault still there (Pats light permanently on) car starting ok.
Then I realised I had missrouted the loom to the CCU. I removed the plugs (without disconnecting the battery this time) rerouted them and plugged them back in. FAULT GONE.  Huh
Just been out for a half hour drive all seems ok. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Grin

Fault came back again. Even though the car was running I didn't want to take a chance. So I decided to remove the PATS control module even though it's awkward and you need a double jointed back. As soon as I got it out I could see the fault.  
 
Corrosion in the plug, the socket on the module and after opening the module on the PCB (tried to include pics but not sure how to get them on). I used maplin pcb/flux cleaner and maplin air duster and a cotton bud to clean it all off. Took about an hour to carefully clean it all.
Luckily no permanant damage was done.
 
Now to the cause.  Huh
The Aircon drain pipes were both blocked (see article on main site). The water had run onto the PATS module. This accounts for the fault getting worse after using the car. All sorted now pipes cleared PATS module reinstalled. All ok. Grin
 
I think I was lucky that no permanant damage was done.
