hi,i have had my scorpio(two litre 16v ultima estate) for two months now and have experienced the highs of scorpio ownership and the lows,i bought a bargain or so i thought?first problem, the fans not working.thanks to this websight i found the info and wiring diagrams to locate the fault(a broken wire in the loom in the front crossmember).great, got the aircon regassed, compressor clutch whining like a banshee.so can,t use the aircon.fitted two new front wishbone bushes to cure the banging when braking then put her in for the MOT,straight through,no problem, five days later, accelerating up a hill,BANG,no drive,AA recovery home and thats where she sits.i now have the dilemma of fixing or breaking for spares, any suggestions wecome, wellard.Huh

Hi Wellard  Grin
Did the bang appear to come from the gearbox or else where. Does it still go in gear but won't move  Huh it could then possibly be a broken cv joint. If there is no indication from the box of any gear it sounds like what happened to mine recently, only mine went whilst in reverse, it too went with a bang.  It turned out to be a broken band in the gearbox. Specialist job i'm afraid  Cry

hi chaps, the engine still runs,i have jacked the car up and there is no drive out the back of the gearbox, the bang was from the front, bellhousing area so i think it may be the torque convertor or the input shaft.whatever it sounds exspensive, thanks anyway.

Crywell i have taken the gearbox out and found the torque convertor splines have stripped.the gearbox is also cream crackered.after a lot of deliberation i have decided its not viable to spend any more money on it,so i have two options, spares or repair or scrapyard.if anyone wants to make me an offer for the complete car or there is enough interest in parts to break her then let me know via this sight,i can post pics if required.i wil also make a donation to the website if  a sale is made, cheers,Kevin.ps i know Pinxton Pete has a good gearbox.
