Hello. Has anyone noticed the cruise control and OD light get dimmer when you switch the headlights on? Is this normal? I find it quite annoying and wondered if it is normal. Thanks.

Yes its normal.   AFAIK different levels of illumination to the insturments for day and nightime driving is the norm.  Its the same with all cars.   Check it on another car when you get the opportunity. Smiley

Hello, beside the annoyng abs light wich is allways on, i never saw any difference between headlights on / off, all the dashbord lights are the same (indicators, handbrake).....i don't gave od/tcs...to try thoes out  Roll Eyes

Maybe a battery connector is a bit oxidezed, dirty or a bit lose....and when the headlights go on they draw to much current. Does the intensity of the headlight varry with the rotation of the engine Huh

hey up, it happens at WHEN LIGHTS ON no matter what the RPMs are or current draw e.g. air con n stuff on. Only two intensities; dim or bright and no in-between or flickering/ varying of intensity. I suspected it may be a deliberate thing by Ford. Makes it very difficult to see cruise control light in the day with lights on (eg when raining). Just had to be sure in case it was something I could fix. Cheers  Smiley

I think these lights are normally rather weak, and almost impossible to see on a bright day.  With the lights on at night, they dim further, just as all cars do.  The difference is that the general illumination level is too weak to start with, so after dark they are still too weak!  Still, a minor flaw in a very interesting motor car!!
