I have just aquired a free scorpio estate with a knackerd gearbox, it seems a waste to scrap it, and I know they are very comfortable cars to drive, as a friend of mine has one and swears by it. So, the first problem is that no local car breakers have one in stock. Though am starting to find a few leads on ebay.
So my first question is, could any other gearbox, say from the 2.3 sorpio fit on to my 2.0 16 valve?
And would there be any difference with a salloon and estate gearbox (though I think that is a silly question!)

Its a manual, oops should have said. Although I prefer an auto, but that will be to much hassle to change over me thinks.
