Latest Cosworth engine wiring loom situation...

Just a few FYIs in one place about my 24v wiring loom problems...
I had loads of engine and transmission problems, eventually traced to a decaying engine wiring loom. The insulation on the wires between the engine 'V', and elsewhere was literally falling off, causing shorts everywhere. SYmptoms were poor running, flashing OD light, no gearchanges, etc etc.
I took the loom off, and began repairing it with self-amalgamating tape (big job). But someone suggested Ford Parts UK had them. I spoke to Brad there, he said they had the loom in stock, at a RRP around £1400, but he could do me an 80% discount. I ordered one, but when it arrived (described as the Engine Compartment wiring loom), it was the wrong part. It was the part that runs from the two large multiblock connectors on the drivers side bulkhead back INSIDE the car to the ECU, and everything else behind the dash.
The part I need, i.e. the part that connects to the engine and tranny is called a 'Fuel Shut-off' loom for some reason, and is around £300. Brad tracked one of these down, and is now swapping it for me.
So, basically, if your early Cossie has a load of engine/tranny problems, check the wiring around the injector connectors (they get the worst heat here). Cracked insulation needs replacing. A new part can just about be sourced still, but is around £300...
