Well...

Hard bit is the transmission end. There are two multiplugs which go into the side of the gearbox. I was able to get the old ones out easily enough with a long screwdriver, but putting the new ones in is a real faff. I'm trying to find a chimney sweep or similarly dexterous small-handed person to help...

Apparently you have to drop the tranny. I was trying to avoid this, but am now considering it...

The rest is easy, just stripping down the top of the engine - plenum, coil pack, etc

Well a pair of wire cutters works well, about 50mm from the end, then re solder it to the new wire, then some heat shrink tube over the solder joint.ive had 4hours of it today, time for the pub !

I have never done the loom befor but would it not help a bit if you was to remove the rear g.box mounting to drop the box down a bit?? it does seen a shame to cut up a new loom!!

Buy a new loom than cut it up Huh

That's just crazy Shocked

If the joins are not good then it creates yet more problems.

Just stick a jack under the gearbox undo the mount, prop middle, flexi parts of exhaust & lower it to tilt the engine back. You may have to remove the bar that bolts across.
It would be quicker to do that than to bodge up a loom join.

That's what I'm going to try. Are the gearbox mounts pretty obvious?
