Well... Hard bit is the transmission end. There are two multiplugs which go into the side of the gearbox. I was able to get the old ones out easily enough with a long screwdriver, but putting the new ones in is a real faff. I'm trying to find a chimney sweep or similarly dexterous small-handed person to help... Apparently you have to drop the tranny. I was trying to avoid this, but am now considering it... The rest is easy, just stripping down the top of the engine - plenum, coil pack, etc

Buy a new loom than cut it up That's just crazy If the joins are not good then it creates yet more problems. Just stick a jack under the gearbox undo the mount, prop middle, flexi parts of exhaust & lower it to tilt the engine back. You may have to remove the bar that bolts across. It would be quicker to do that than to bodge up a loom join.

That's what I'm going to try. Are the gearbox mounts pretty obvious?
