Try taking the push button panel off and leaving it in a warm place, airing cupboard or similar. Check the contacts are clean and replace. Sometimes this works!!.

Same thing happens to me with my 7000, the display dies sometimes but then comes back to life, radio and CD functions fine as you say; looking at the history, my car has had 2 new radios and a new CD changer in the past. It also happened with the c/c displays when I first had the car, no trouble with them since the new batt but I'm not entirely convinced that was the cause. I took my 7000 apart a while back, the display still gets the drive voltage but the segments fade with temperature, sometimes if you press gently on the display, you can see it. Happens sometimes with LCD displays in cheap videos/DVD players too. Regards, TiberiuS.
