Hi all. I hope somebody can help me with this problem.I have a 2.3 manual estate and the revs will not go below 1500 on tick over. It also takes a while for the revs to drop down when i rev the car while stationary. This has only started to happen in the last couple of days.Apart from this i have not had any trouble from the car in the 4 years that i have owned her. Gary

I don't know that much about the 2.3 but a sticking idle control valve or an air leak spring to mind. Has anyone been near the engine just before the fault occurred? Failing that are you near another member who can do an OBD fault code scan for you. Hopefully others will reply soon.

Gary Mine had exactly the same problem a few months ago, it was the IACV whic was sticking. A good clean with carb cleaner (3-4 times) and a few drops of oil (not WD-40) on it's shaft did the magic. Also check the ECT and IAT connectors, if one gets unpluged the engine could belive it has a -50 degree temperature....and rev itself ...... This is the IACV http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/iacvdata.htm And here is where to find it http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/16vcomponents.htm PS: mine didn't give up easy, after cleaning it 3 or 4th time it went ok.
