Hello I read about how changing the drivebelt. But I can't turn the tensioner clockwise because of a nock prevending this. Should I losen the bolt and pull the thensioner a little bit forward, so the nock comes free? Many thanks Huub

hi there if it won't move, then it might be seized. the tensioner needs to be able to move freely. you need to change the tensioner, then replace the belt. hth

It also helps to use a long handled spanner so as to get enough leverage.

As Paul_Brown says above (the longer the better!). They dont move that freely and do take a good bit of strength to relax the tension. You can remove the central nut but under tension, you risk damage to the thread.

hi there here's a photo of the tensioner. what does everyone think about the notch bit. can't remember seeing it on mine. does look like the pulley needs to come off to fit a new belt. strange. seems to be catching in both directions.

Unless I’m misinterpreting what you mean about the notch, it’s there to stop the spring unwinding when the belt’s off, looks the same as mine. I just pulled up hard on the belt till the tensioner moved enough & wedged a bar against the tensioner into the casting on the front of the block. Dave

Hi Huub Have you tried undoing the retaining bolt a little, I think there's a bit of play in the way it's located - might give you a bit of extra movement. Dave

I think the photograph is deceptive there is a lot more scope for downward movement of the arm. Take the bull by the horns and snip the old belt off and see if the pulley arm is seized or not.

Hello Dave Thank you Your solution, pulling hard at the belt, works. The tensioner moves enough to get the belt of. A piece of wood keeps the tensioner in place. Everybody many thanks for your help Huub
