bad cold starts

thanks for the advice on the need for speed topic. I seem to notice recently that when i start the car in the morning,the revs dont hold on and after a few seconds it will stall, but if i hold yhe throttle for a few moments the revs hold just below 1/rpm with a shiver but once the car starts to warm up the proplem disappears, i changed the auto iddler and all the regular checks are up to date. where should the rpm be in cold starts. any advice is appreciated,,.
