Electric Seat Stuck..

Hi all, Hope someone can help.... Today (while waiting for my wife) i put the drivers seat to the fully reclined position. However when she returned the seat would not move to the original position (all others work ..tilt, back, forward) but you can hear the motors running. Checked on this main site and it says Seat module needs replacing. I rang Ford for quote and they said it was the "memory module" ...is this the same thing ? Don't want to order/find the wrong part. Also is it possible to manually return the seat to the upright position ? I drove 6 miles with it fully reclined today and can't do that too much ! Car is a 97(P), 2.9 Ultima Thanks for any advice given, Tashy Man

Had this happen on another scorpio i had,the threaded screw shaft under the seat had surface rust on its ends(where it dont normaly get used)i had to undo the seat & wd40 the shaft the motor would only then turn the thead afraction @ a time on each press of the switch (took about half hour to get it back to where it would run again)so check this out first in case.

Hi Simmo, Yeah i saw that for getting the seat back in a driveable position and will be attempting it today......what i really need to know is what part to replace to enable it to work in the future (i.e Seat module, memory module etc) Thanks,

T-M. May be once it is back in the correct position you will find that the modules themselves are in fact OK. If I read the thread correctly it seem that the seat went beyond a 'stop' ,and once that was overcome the thing worked as normal. No doubt you'll find out and let us know. Good luck.
