Advisory: Front Brake balance poor.

Had new disks and pads about 10k ago - would it be the calipers?

Cheers

Not sure Paul - did flush it through a while back when I had to put a new flexi on - can I do a boiling point test or is it more scientific than that?

Have been thinking about re-furbing the calipers all round, are kits available (tried fordparts.co but they didn't have any last year for the rears!)

My Dad's car (not a Scorpio - the fool) just failed its MOT (first ever fail  Undecided) on brake imbalance. It had new discs, pads and fluid about 2k ago. It needed the calipers stripping down and re-assembling - 1 hours labour had it done.

good news on the MOT mate....
you mention the calipers,do you feel it pulling to 1 side when braking?,and juddering at all?....
could always try taking the wheels off and checking for a sticking/seized caliper, but if you have no symptoms when braking, like scorpioman says,it may well be the hose you have replaced (slightly kinked  Undecided),for the sake of a few qud, replace the other   Undecided....

catch up later

Thanks for the replies lads.

I did replace both flexies, there are no obvious signs of imbalance,  in fact I was quite surprised when they told me.

Think I will have a look at doing the calipers and get the fluid changed just for peace of mind!

Cheers

The fluid should make no difference to the balance except for if it boils due to moisture contamination and heat generated in the brakes. I think you will find it is probably a sticking caliper. Take the pads out and pump the pistons back and forth a few times. If they don't move freely, then strip them down to find out why.
